Andhra pradesh kharif sowing down 0.02% as on 1st August 2012

As per the latest updates from the Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Department, the overall rainfall received in the state from 01 June 2012 to 1st August 2012 is recorded at 291.30 mm against the normal of 301.30 mm with the deficit of over 3 percent from the normal. During the southwest monsoon, the rainfall in the South costal Andhra Pradesh was up by 20 percent and was down by1 percent and 7 percent in Rayalaseema and North Telengana.

Sowing of pulses, Oilseeds and cotton are progressing in the state. The total sowing of other crops like groundnut and soyabean have witnessed sharp decline so far in the current year. The total kharif area of the state has covered almost 48.24 lakh hectares against the previous year of 48.25 lakh hectares as on date, down %.
